Noise Measurement Services was established in 1999 in Brisbane with the specific aim of providing a specialised service in matters dealing with noise. It has strong awareness of concerns within industry of increasing number of issues relating to noise, and the strict legislation introduced in Queensland.
Noise Measurement Services provides environmental consultancy
services for projects involving the assessment of air, noise,
vibration and water quality. Our specialist area is in the
assessment, management and control of environmental noise.
Noise Measurement Services provides a full range of expertise

- Advise on practical noise management or mitigation issues.
Projects completed by NMS include residential development
affected by road, rail and aircraft noise; industrial noise
control; construction sites; quarries and mining; liquor licensing
reports; presentation as an expert witness; assessment of
intrusive noise (noise that disturbs or annoys); and environmental
noise management plans. We have long-standing associations
with acoustical engineers and blasting and vibration specialists
in order to provide practical comprehensive advice.

STAFF PROFILES
BOB THORNE (M.Sci., MAAS)
Bob is the Principal Consultant for Noise Measurement Services and is a member of various acoustic bodies, including the Australian Acoustical Society and the Institute of Acoustics (UK). Bob has specialised in the fields of public health and environmental management, for both the private and public sectors, since 1973. He has wide professional and work experience in environmental noise investigations, developing environmental management systems, and land use planning. He also has considerable experience in the fields of environmental ethics and community consultation and has experience as an expert witness. He is currently researching noise and its effects on people.
MAX THORNE (LLB)
Max provides operational advice to Noise Measurement Services. He has a professional interest in environmental noise and in 1999 represented the National Environmental Noise Service (advisor to the Ministry of Health, New Zealand) at the World Health Organisation Expert Task Force Meeting on Guidelines for Community Noise.
